Tasmania offers the ultimate in trout fishing. Its myriad rivers, streams, lakes and tarns are an anglers' paradise. It is a beautiful, unspoilt environment that attracts fishermen from around the world,

The River at Hatchers Manor is downstream from the Craigbourne Dam . The Dam is about 20 minutes from Richmond. The dam is primarily an irrigation storage but is an important and popular fishery because of its proximity to Hobart. Access is limited around the shore because of private land tenure of some of the shoreline. A boat ramp near the dam is available for those wanting to fish from a boat.

Fishing Information.

The Fisheries Management service stocks the fishery heavily with rainbow trout, brook trout, Atlantic salmon and supplements the fishery with special stockings of adult brown trout from time to time. Regular stockings of large and trophy Atlantic salmon are a feature of our management of the fishery and the wish to provide great fishing opportunities close to large population centres. Some of the larger Atlantic salmon caught have weighed between 6-10 kg. The average size of brown trout is about 2 kg and rainbow trout can be caught weighing up to 1 kg. Brook trout are often caught after stocking and weigh about 500 gramms

Our lakes are in a natural setting surrounded by bush with and abundance of birds and animals including Platypus.
